Only Origins and Homecoming came close to being about Silent Hill yet failed horribly. (I say this because I wasn't a huge fan of SH1, and yes I enjoyed DP and HC) It's your opinion that matters to yourself, figure out what parts of the series you like, don't just conform to what the small populace of reddit SH fans like. However, play every other game throughout the series for yourself. With that I will also add something to OP. Now, this doesn't mean I think it was a great game (I liked it, but it wasn't in par with 1-3). It doesn't have gimmicks thrown in from other games or the makings of fanfic. Just because it wasn't developed by TS doesn't mean it isn't Canon. Some people say it isn't Canon, but I see no reason why it isn't.
Shattered Memories: not canon, as it is a retelling of the first game with alterations.ĭownpour: I am iffy with this one. Therefore, I do not believe the Room is canon. It was a completely different game that had silent hill thrown on it and slight changes to make it acceptable. It still adds story and whatnot to the canon though, thus why I say loosely.Ĥ: not canon.
Origins: loosely cannon, as it is made as a post created prequel to the first game. I see a lot of people throwing the term Canon around and I figured I would throw in my two cents on the matter. Also, the crazy mailman from downpour, that wasn't explained in the first place, is a shopkeeper in this game (WTF IS THIS SHIT). Also there's the multiplayer option (WTF? Mistake 4) and the straw that broke the camels back for me was that Vatiel (I think that's how you spell it) gives you missions before you start regular zones without boss battles which you can complete, or completely ignore. There are 21 zones in all, so like 7 levels total.įurthermore, there is a alignment system (dark or light) which I'm still not entirely sure how it works or what the point of it is. There are zones, every dungeon is a zone, and there are three zones in the level, 2 regular zones then a stupid hard boss battle in the third zone. It's about it's an rpg so you'll create your character (Mistake 1) receiving a book for their b-day, listing every event that has ever happened to them, and they're first instinct is to rewrite a portion of the book (what) you spend 100% of your time in the "otherworld" (mistake 2) and fight your way through dungeons to advance. Idk what you know about it but I'll explain. I'm currently playing (as I want to have played every Silent Hill game) and it's non-canon, so you won't be missing anything. If you want to play silent hill, don't play this.
